Absolum was born March 1825 according to most records. Even though his parents marriage was March 1825. I am not here to judge them one way or the other. Times were different back then. I do wonder if she was married before and her husband died or whatever.

In 1849 Absolum married Rebecca Margaret Wilkerson, daughter of Barlett and Margarett Rhodes Wilkerson (1801).

Absolum and Rebecca had 11 children and possible more. Not all children lived to grow up at that time. Absolum was a farmer and had land which I believed his father gave to him.

  • 1850 Absolum and Margarett as newly weds living next door to Wilson Cager Grissom.

  • 1860 Absolum Grissom

  • 1860 Absolum and Margarett had 5 children. Leander William 9, James Wilson 7, Elizabeth Ann 5, Sarah Elizabeth 4 and Martha Branch 3.

  • 1870 Absolum Grissom

  • Margarett's sister is living with them. They added Henry Linden/Leonard, Mary Catherine, Nancy Jane, and Margaret Isabell.

  • 1880 Absolum Grissom

  • They have added twins to their family. Samantha F. and Miles A. born in 1872.

  • 1900 Margarett Grissom

  • In the 1900 census Margarett is a widow because Absolum died in 1889. Nancy Jane Williams has moved back home with her daugher Lilly who is 7. I believe their last name should be Williams. Margarett still has 3 children in the household. Elizabeth, Martha and Miles one of the twins.

  • 1910 Margarett Grissom

  • 1910 Census shows that a few of her and Absolum's children have moved back home. Nancy Jane and Henry Linden/leonard. Sarah Elizabeth is now 56 and single. Henry works as a cook. Nancy Jane has 3 children.

1911 Margaret Wilkerson Grissom dies and is buried in Center Hill Cemetery in Henderson County by her husband, Absolum.
